Senior R&D User Researcher, Innovation Facilitation at Novo Nordisk

Alisan is senior user researcher and innovation facilitator at Novo Nordisk. Before moving to Copenhagen, Alisan lived in San Francisco, where he lead service and product design teams. Previously, he was a senior interaction designer at Frog, the award-winning innovation consultancy.

Alisan has given lectures at MIT, Georgia Institute of Technology, Copenhagen Business school, Savannah College of Art and Design and many more. He trained in counseling psychology at New York University and holds a triple-focus BA in Communications, Creative Writing and Education. His book, Managing the Innovators: Exercises for Empowering Employees, is scheduled to be released in May 2016 by Pearson.

Presentation: A behavioural psychology approach to service design

What can 140 years of psychotherapy teach us a designers and leaders? In this practical talk about methods of managing complex stakeholder needs, Alisan share how therapists use mental (and visual) exercises to help people overcome obstacles and create solutions for themselves.

Workshop:

Learn how to use tools from 11 schools of psychotherapy and counselling to make your ethnography and service design practice more effective and approachable for your organisation's stakeholders. Through hands-on activities and rapid prototyping, this workshop is meant for beginner to mid-level designers who want to practice managing their on-the-fly collaboration and stakeholder mediation skills.

The main event in Manchester Town Hall brings you talks from world-class speakers in our industry on topics such as accessibility and inclusive design, the Internet of Things and product interface UX, optimising the user experience and CRO.

There is also an optional pre-event workshops day in Manchester Central Library on the 16th March where you can choose a seminar in the morning and one in the afternoon, focusing on action-oriented takeaways in small groups.
